Trimper's Pirates Cove funhouse, also built by Bill Tracy in 1971, also looks a little different this year. For the first time since the late 1990s, the famous pirate on the attraction's façade, which is a full-round figure made of metal, wood, and fiberglass, was completely overhauled in addition to a new piece of artwork on the backdrop. Below, check out some photos of the Pirate being removed from the ride and hauled away for its makeover. Interestingly, a piece of newspaper from 1972 was discovered stuffed deep in the Pirate's torso when it was taken apart for transport. If the piece of newspaper was indeed used during the construction process, it would push our construction date from 1971 to 1972, the same year Tracy constructed Pirates Cove at Waldameer Park in Erie, PA.
