For the first time in about 20 years or so, the giant Pirate on top of Bill Tracy's Pirates Cove nautical-themed funhouse at Trimper's Rides has been removed from the building in preparation for an overhaul. Interestingly, crews discovered a piece of newspaper inside of the pirate that was dated April 1972. If the piece of newspaper found was used during the construction process of the pirate, this would push our original construction date of Pirates Cove from 1971 to 1972. More to come.

Happy New Year, folks! Are you a fan of Trimper's Rides? If so, you'll enjoy a brand new television show that is coming to Fox Business in 2015 called Strange Inheritance.
Strange Inheritance visits families all over the country and talks to them about things they've inherited which are unusual. Crews from this television show were on location at Trimper's Rides for about a week last summer to film and interview the Trimper family members about the beautiful seaside park they've inherited. Mostly, it covers the tax problems the family faced back in 2007 or so. But, it also speaks generally about the treasure trove of iconic pieces that have been passed down through the family over the past century and beyond. Trimper's Rides is the only amusement park in the world continuously owned by the same family for the length of time which it has. It's remarkable, and the show will highlight this feature. I was fortunate and had the opportunity to contribute some of my photography collection to the show for stills as some of the things they were talking about are long gone.
Check out a trailer of the upcoming show below. It's a presentation you won't want to miss!
