Bill Tracy's "Attic Rat," a staple of the ride since it was built in 1964, received an overhaul in 2015 to include new claws, teeth, paint, and swagger.
The effect continues to frighten passers-by with startling sound of a loud buzzer.
The effect has remained in the same location since it opened 52 years ago.
Below, enjoy a great piece that was produced in 2015 that features Maria Schlick, the park's master artist, as she discusses some of her projects including restoring Tracy's Attic Rat stunt.
Another one of Tracy's Rats, this one from defunct Ghost Ship at Ocean Playland Amusement Park, was overhauled in 2016 to feature new claws and paint.
Check out how the Attic Rat looked in Tracy's Ghost Ship at Ocean Playland Amusement Park. An identical Rat stunt could also be found in Tracy's Hour 13 dark ride at Miracle Strip Amusement Park, which opened in 1965 and closed in 2004. Check out a photo of how it looked after the ride was found abandoned a few years back.
New sharp teeth were carefully constructed to give this rat a truly carnivorous appearance.
Check out Bill Tracy's "Attic Rat" stunt as it looked in 2009 at the down-hill before it was restored. Forget what it sounds like? Listen to the effect in our sound gallery!
